Playpiano.com mainly focuses on the dvd crash courses that the author sells. You can sign up for some free lessons as well. The site is quite text heavy and a little hard to navigate around, but who know, the lessons might be brilliant.

EZFolk.com is a folk oriented site with lessons and tablature for Clawhammer Banjo, Bluegrass Banjo, guitar, Ukulele, Harmonica and Dulcijo. The lessons are mostly beginner, intermediate level with a good description of how to set up each instrument and how to read tablature etc.

Playpiano.com is a pretty good site which also includes some really good free video lessons. If you provide your email they will send you a link to view other lessons. The lessons all appear to be audio based with no sheet music (I presume that you have to purchase the sheet music?).

Folk of the wood provides a good explanation of how to set up the fiddle, tune it etc. as well as providing some good beginner/intermediate lessons on specific tunes. It mostly focuses on bluegrass/traditional tunes such as red haired boy, whiskey before breakfast etc.
It has good lessons for mandolin, mandola, violin, fiddle, guitar and banjo.

Mandolin sessions is an excellent site for mandolin resources, including lessons, tips, interviews and tablatures.
There are a lot of good articles in the back issues, which go back to June 2003. The site includes articles, lessons and various tablatures.
